At The Sovereign, the menu is a celebration of Belgian culinary traditions. Start your meal with their refreshing Belgian Endive Salad (US$14.00) or indulge in a rich Beet Salad (US$15.00) that dazzles the palate with its earthy flavors. For those with a heartier appetite, the Bicky Burger stands out, bursting with flavor from a unique blend of ground beef and pork, topped with pickles and crispy fried onions. While much of the feedback on The Sovereign has been positive, it's not without its critiques. Some diners have noted that while the beer selection is exceptional and the service attentive, certain dishes, like the French Onion Soup and the Steak Frites, could use a bit more refinement. I expected to love this place from the reviews, which is why I feel the need to offer more perspective. The atmosphere was fine but everything felt a little sticky and the vibes were undercooked. The tap list was extensive, and is understably the main selling point here. The mushroom risotto also a few excellent reviews, so I went in with high hopes. The outcome was the single most disappointing dish I've ordered on years. The mushroom and vegetables were tough and felt like an afterthought, and the scant sauce was overly acidic to round out an otherwise bland dish. is recommend going literally anywhere else in the abundant good oasis, but not here

I was very pleased to see a good variety of options - notably for me, vegetarian - in their $40 restaurant week 3-course prix fixe menu so I had high hopes... and was not let down. I still can't get over how solid of a deal this was, even for a vegetarian meal. The food itself was of a worthy quality no matter how much was provided, but even beyond that, there was no skimping in portion size in any of the three courses. And this - quality and quantity - goes even more so for my wife's mussels dish. The beer menu looked amazing so I did the $15 beer pairing and that was also a fantastic addition - kudos especially to the mushroom beer-mushroom risotto combo, just amazing. Service was fabulous and the design and ambiance was great too (bit loud, but alas what modern restaurant isn't). I actually love that its entrance is tucked in an alley - they do a solid job at sprucing it up but I do wish it was a bit nicer - though tbf I think it's mostly out of their control. (If possible) I think cafe lights perhaps could go a long way here, just a thought!

Great restaurant overall, with a tremendous beer selection and solid cocktail selection, excellent service, but the food fell a little flat for me. I started with the French onion soup and while it was better than most, it still had me longing for a robust version to which I had grown accustomed. My main was the Bicky Burger (ground beef and pork, nutmeg, bicky sauce, fried onions, pickles) and it was a bit disappointing. They deep fry the patty which feels unnecessary and diminishes the flavor. My memory was just now an oily, greasy patty with all the flavor that should be coming through from the pork and beef just completely dampened. My friends enjoyed their mussels and rabbit dishes overall, but not epic either. I really enjoyed my A TALE FROM TWO ISLANDS (Cotton & Reed PX Rum, Dutch Chartruese, Don Ciccio Apertivo, Pineapple, Lime) cocktail, great spin on the jungle bird and very well balanced. Our server was tremendous and he was on top of everything the whole night.

Comme ci, comme ça. Nothing special except impressive beer list. Steak frites average, and what could’ve been an awesome Liege style dessert waffle was disappointing, especially at $9. The same style Belgian waffles at Trader Joe’s are better, and less expensive. Plus they have sugar crystals in the batter, which is legit, unlike the ones at Sovereign that claim to have sugar crystals but they don’t seem to be there. Moreover, the waffle seemed to be reheated instead of freshly made. You could tell because it was too soft instead of crispy on the outside which is how they’re supposed to come out of the waffle iron when fresh. I lived in Belgium and you know the difference. Disappointing. Finally, while nice, service was slow and our server said “a little birdie” told him we were celebrating a special occasion. We weren’t, and a little birdie says to go to Le Diplomate next time instead.

Bacon wrapped figs, bacon flatbtead, duck confit. That duck was tender and flavorful. The figs were good. I've never had that combination before, but I'd order it again. Lights are a bit dim in there. Regardless, get here, if only for the beer, they have a wide selection.

The Sovereign was a wonderful surprise. The food, environment, and service were all fantastic—everything came together to make it a memorable evening. We were impressed by the quality and taste across the board, and the portions felt very reasonable for the price. A special mention goes to their cocktail Naked in Brussels—absolutely worth trying and a highlight of the night. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that I’d highly recommend to anyone looking for a spot in Georgetown.

Lively atmosphere. Rustic ambiance. Service was efficient but lack of warmth. Felt like they were short on service staff on the Saturday we visited. Cocktails were tasty. Food came out fast, delicious, and ingredients were fresh. Platings were beautiful. Noise level high. Bar vibe to the fullest. Don’t recommend come with young kids. Good value . Price is comparable to the nearby businesses. Location is convenient. Walking distance to shops in Georgetown, DC Definitely recommend by IG@WineDinenVacay
